Join us for our fall drive-in workshop at Wilmington College featuring a day full of exciting presentations, active participation exercises, benchmarking, and networking with colleagues. Whether you are in alumni relations, a front-line fundraiser, planned giving, advancement services, or communications, you are sure to walk away from this workshop with tools and insights to help you excel.
Workshop 1: Inspiring Action—Pathway to Building a Culture of Philanthropy Susan Alexander, Rosebud Coaching & Consulting, LLC
Unlock your power to inspire and cultivate lasting connections with donors in our immersive workshop, “Inspiring Action - Pathway to Building a Culture of Philanthropy”. Join us on a transformative journey as we explore the profound impact of your work, and how shifting to a "WE" mindset that can foster meaningful relationships by connecting donors to their cherished causes.

Workshop 2: Ohio Northern University's Planned Giving Program—A Journey That Parallels Preparing For a Marathon

In this workshop, we will explore how Ohio Northern University revamped its Planned Giving Program during the $100M Forward Together Campaign. Much like training for a marathon, meticulous planning, assembling a dedicated team, and consistent execution were key elements.
Learn about their success story and gain insights into how they increased documented planned gifts by 360% in just three years. Approaches, tools, and strategies will be shared. Discover how you can apply these principles to your advancement efforts. We'll discuss this transformation's impact on Ohio Northern University's financial stability, endowed programs, and future prospects.
Workshop 3: Advancement Boondoggles and Booyahs – Turning One Into The Other

Great constituent relations are a foundational element to any good advancement shop. But constituent relations can sometimes turn into a lot of work, without a lot of result. In other words, a boondoggle. Join two seasoned advancement officers for this unique, engaging, and interactive session focusing on turning your constituent relations boondoggles into celebratory booyahs. During the presentation, we will explore:
- The difference between boondoggles and booyahs in constituent relations
- Real-life experiences and examples
- Constituent relations tips
- How constituent relations can influence your success, both with your constituent and your organization.
Workshop 4: Building a Culture of Philanthropy Through Student Engagement

The transformation at Bluffton University is exemplified by the shift from the Student Alumni Association, originally tasked with educating students on philanthropy, to the dynamic PA program—a collaborative effort between our advancement and admissions teams. Through the PA program, a broader audience receives a more meaningful education on philanthropy than ever before. In fact, one of the dedicated PAs recently stepped into the role of interim annual fund manager—a testament to the quality of our program. Through this shift it is clear that students are eager to contribute and understand their role within the culture of philanthropy.

- I’ve been a member of ICAA since March of 2022 and a member of the executive committee since July 2022.
- What is your favorite ICAA event of the year?
- My favorite ICAA event is Summer Conference!
- What is your favorite ICAA memory?
- Meeting the executive committee in person for the first time in July 2023 - we ate a lot of pizza and shared laughs over drinks.
- What is a fun fact about you?
- I sing with the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir and nerd out for classical choir music! Our next performance is Handel's Messiah with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra in December.
